Welcome to Re:Claim. Re:Claim is a student-led community lost and found platform created to help WVSU Main Campus students report, search for, and recover missing or found items.
By using Re:Claim, you agree to follow these Terms of Service. Please use the platform responsibly and respectfully.
Purpose of Re:Claim
Re:Claim is designed to support the reporting and recovery of lost and found items within WVSU Main Campus. Users may post missing or found items, search for listings, and confirm recovered items through the platform.
User Accounts
To use the features of Re:Claim, users will need to register an account.
By registering an account, you agree to:
- Provide accurate and complete information
- Keep your account information updated
- Use your own account and not impersonate another person, and
- Be responsible for the activity under your account
Posting Missing or Found Items
Registered users can post missing or found items with relevant details such as:
- Item name and photo
- Item category tags
- Item description (optional)
- Last known or found location
- Date and time lost/found
- Contact information
- First and last name
- Contact details
- Mobile phone number
- Social media link/s
When posting, you agree to:
- Submit truthful and accurate information
- Avoid posting false, misleading, or duplicate listings
- Use respectful language, and
- Only upload content you have the right to share
Recovery Confirmation
Re:Claim includes a recovery confirmation feature to help keep listings accurate and up to date.
Users should only mark an item as recovered if the recovery is genuine and confirmed. Do not mark an item as recovered if it has not actually been returned, claimed, or found.
Acceptable Use
Users agree not to use Re:Claim to:
- Post fake or malicious listings
- Harass, deceive, or spam other users
- Upload offensive, illegal, or inappropriate content
- Attempt to access another user's account without permission
- Interfere with the platform's normal operation, or
- Use the platform for purposes unrelated to lost-and-found coordination
Content Responsibility
Users are responsible for the content they submit.
Re:Claim will display user-submitted information such as names, photos, item details, and links to social media profiles to support the identification and recovery of items. Users should only submit information they are comfortable sharing within the community.
Moderation and Removal
Re:Claim reserves the right to review, hide, edit, or remove any content that:
- Is false or misleading
- Violates these Terms
- Appears abusive or harmful, or
- Is no longer relevant to the platform
Accounts may also be restricted or removed if a user repeatedly violates these Terms.
Community Role
Re:Claim is intended for use by students and members of the WVSU Main Campus, including people who may act as:
- Finders
- Collectors, and
- Owners of items
A user may perform one or more of these roles depending on the situation. The platform is meant to support cooperation, not conflict.
Open Source and Community Initiative
Re:Claim is a collaborative community initiative developed with the support of WVSU SPARK Hub and the WVSU USC-Commission on Innovation and Tech Empowerment (CITE). The platform may be open source, but user-submitted content and personal data remain subject to these Terms and the Privacy Policy.
Disclaimer
Re:Claim is provided to support community coordination and information sharing. We do not guarantee that every lost item will be found or recovered through the platform.
We are not responsible for disputes between users, incorrect postings, or outcomes resulting from the use of the platform.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in the platform or how it is used. When updates are made, the new version will be posted on the platform with a revision date.
